United Airlines investors outrage Losing Millions due too forcibly eject a customer Read Story Here: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2017/04/11/united-ceo-employees-followed-procedures-flier-belligerent/100317166/ Read story Here :http://finance.yahoo.com/news/united-airlines-stock-drops-1-180059108.html Even as the internet kicked up a maelstrom of outrage, investors still thought United Airlines’ decision to forcibly eject a customer from an overbooked flight would have little effect on the company’s profits. But that changed Tuesday, when shares of United fell as much as 6.3% in pre-market trading, dropping $1.4 billion from the now $21 billion company by market cap. By early trading Tuesday, shares were down 4%. The CEO of United Airlines apologized again Tuesday amid a global uproar sparked when a passenger was dragged screaming from his seat on a flight that, it turns out, wasn't even overbooked. "I continue to be disturbed by what happened on this flight, and I deeply apologize to the customer forcibly removed and to all the customers aboard," CEO Oscar Munoz said in a statement. "No one should ever be mistreated this way." United has been under siege since videos of Sunday night's violent confrontation on the plane at Chicago's O'Hare Airport went viral, drawing hundreds of millions of views around the world. Social media outrage rained down on the Chicago-based airline. United spokesman Jonathan Guerin said Tuesday that all 70 seats on United Express Flight 3411 were filled, but the plane was not overbooked as the airline previously reported. Instead, United and regional affiliate Republic Airlines, which operated the flight, selected four passengers to be removed to accommodate crew members needed in Louisville the next day. The passengers were selected based on a combination of criteria spelled out in United’s contract of carriage, including frequent-flier status, fare type, check-in time and connecting flight implications, among others, according to United. Three passengers went quietly. The fourth, who was literally pulled out of his seat and off the plane, was David Dao, a physician in Elizabethtown, Ky. Late Tuesday, CNBC reported that a pair of Chicago attorneys, Stephen L. Golan and Thomas A. Demetrio, are representing Dao. A statement from Golan said Dao is undergoing treatment in a Chicago hospital for unspecified injuries. "The family of Dr. Dao wants the world to know that they are very appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, concern, and support they have received," Golan said in a statement. "Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao's medical care and treatment" and will not be making any comments to the media. Munoz issued his first public apology Monday but hours later sent a letter to the airline's employees lauding the behavior of the flight crew in dealing with a "disruptive and belligerent" passenger. Munoz credited employees with following established procedures on the Louisville-bound flight. "This situation was unfortunately compounded when one of the passengers we politely asked to deplane refused, and it became necessary to contact Chicago Aviation Security Officers to help," the letter says. "While I deeply regret this situation arose, I also emphatically stand behind all of you, and I want to commend you for continuing to go above and beyond to ensure we fly right." Munoz conceded, however, that "there are lessons we can learn from this experience," and he promised an investigation. Chicago aviation officials placed a security officer on leave, saying the incident "was not in accordance with our standard operating procedure."

TV9 Discussion : Swayam Krushi Souharda Credit Cooperative Limited is Unable To Pay Off Its Pygmy Investors - Swayam Diwali - 1/3........., Incidents of fly-by-night operators fleeing with the lifetime savings of small-time investors are not rare. This one, however, takes the cake. The Swayam Krushi Souharda Credit Cooperative Limited (SKSCCL) is unable to pay off its pygmy investors because its vice-president Veerendra Babu blew up Rs9 crore in making a film that bombed at the box-office. The tagline of the Kannada film Swayam Krushi had been tell-tale: You can do anything and everything. Babu did—right from directing and producing the film, he played the lead role too—and got away with it too. Babu had always nurtured dreams of hitting Sandalwood, and this he did with the life savings of lakhs of people—from vulnerable housewives to hapless cobblers. What is astonishing about the entire episode is that Veerendra Babu's proposal for a film to promote the SKSCCL had initially been shot down by the board of the organisation. Babu had contended that a film had immense potential to reach the maximum number of people as a publicity tool. The SKSCCL board of directors, however, were not convinced. "We made it clear (to him) that the money in our possession had been collected from the people, and was not meant for making a film. He then took more than Rs9 crore as an advance amount and used it for making Swayam Krushi. He later became restless when the film crashed at the box-office,'' said S Govindaraj, director, SKSCCL. Babu had other ambitions as well. He planned a television channel, a daily (Subhodaya) and an eveninger (Mussange). The film itself had been big with Ambareesh, Suman, Charanraj, Mumaith Khan and Tamanna lined up as its starcast. He took more than a year to shoot the film and splurged on promotional activities. However, once the film flopped, Babu stopped attending SKSCCL activities. The TV channel and the two newspapers were shut down too. As of now, Babu is cooling his heels in Hyderabad with his new wife Parvathi. His first wife Chandrika has lodged a complaint at the Yelahanka police station alleging dowry harassment, while Parvathi's parents have filed a case at the Devanahalli police station alleging that Babu had abducted their daughter. He resigned from the cooperative on March 15, but is yet to be relieved from his position. Depositors on warpath While lakhs of depositors are regretting investing in SKSCCL, hundreds of agents, unable to fend queries from irate investors, have started manhandling the staff of the cooperative's office. "A few depositors had manhandled me. I tried to contact SKSCCL directors, but found their phones switched off. I mailed my resignation since there was no better option for me,'' said Shekhar (name changed) from Chikkaballapur. Manjula of Yelahanka, whose husband lost his job, thought that becoming an agent for SKSCCL might help her tide over her financial problems. The decision, instead, added to her woes. "I find it difficult to make both ends meet after my husband lost his job. They promised me to pay 14% as commission, and everything went fine till November last. Now, the cooperative is not in a position even to repay investors. I am finding it tough answering depositors' queries,'' she said. Visiting the SKSCCL office has become a daily routine for Nagarathnamma, a cobbler who works at the Devanahalli bus stand. She paid Rs10 every day for three years, expecting a lumpsum amount after the stipulated period. "They have been avoiding paying me back on some pretext or the other. I hope they will do so by May-end. I need the money badly. It will help me pay the school fees for my children,'' she said.
